Troy Fire Department Comments on Easter Morning Fire that Injured 3 Firefighters
Information from the Troy Fire Department
TROY - The Troy Fire Department made this announcement on Sunday:

"At approximately 10:09 on Easter morning, Troy Fire crews were dispatched to 1018 Wheeler Street on the report of a structure fire. On arrival crews found heavy fire on the first floor and were able to quickly extinguish the main fire but not before it had advanced through the walls into the attic space. No one was home at the time of the fire. Crews were working on the second floor when conditions changed and an evacuation was ordered. Crews were unable to use the stairs and 4 firefighters had to exit from a second story window and down a ladder. Three of those firefighters were later taken to Upper Valley Medical Center for evaluation and then released with minor injuries.

Our thoughts and prayers to the homeowners and the families of the injured firefighters. We would also like to thank Piqua Fire, Tipp City Fire and Emergency Services, Casstown Fire, Pleasant Hill Fire, and Ludlow Falls Fire for providing assistance with the operations. Red Cross is providing assistance for the residents, and the State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting with the investigation. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the home appears to be a total loss."
